Fly Fishing Float Trips

Float Trips are the premier way to fish the Bow River. We'll gear you up and enjoy the day floating down the river while fishing from the drift boat. By floating, anglers are exposed to the most fish, and are able to access parts of the river that are not accessible on foot. Floating while drifting means your fly can stay in the fish zone longer, increasing success. We'll also stop along the way and work the water at some of our honey holes. Float trips take place in new Hyde drift boats. Our drift boats have padded front and rear seats, front and rear knee braces, rod holders, and of course an extremely stable platform from which to cast. Your guide will take you on one of three sections on the breathtaking Upper Bow River near Banff, or one of six sections on the world famous "Blue Ribbon" Lower Bow River near Calgary. Your guide will put you on fish with the flies the fish are dialled in on, and provide advice and instruction for which techniques are currently most productive for that particular section of river.

Full Day Trips are $600 per boat, and each boat can accomodate 1 or 2 anglers. Additional angler $150.

Half Day Trips are $450 per boat, and each boat can accomodate 1 or 2 anglers. Additional angler $150.

Overnight multi-day trips allow you to fish whenever you want, even in the dark. They are a great way to bond with friends or loved ones. You will sleep soundly under the stars in our premium tents with the sound of the river relaxing you. Tents, Bar-B-Q, and the campfire is provided. If you are travelling light, we have sleeping bags, pillows, and sleeping pads available for rent that are professionally cleaned after every trip. Overnight trips can be any duration you want, 1 night, 2 nights, 3 nights... you decide! Why not put the money you would spend on a hotel towards more fishing!

Lake Fly Fishing Trips

There is a plethora of beautiful lakes around Calgary, Banff, Canmore, and Kananaskis Country. We specialize doing lake trips in May and June for aggressive Northern Pike as soon as the season opens after they spawn. Other times of the year we go after trophy Walleye, beautifully unique Arctic Grayling, hard fighting Rainbows, evasive Browns, Brook Trout, native West Slope Cutthroat, and aggressive native Bull Trout. Depending on the lake access and your preference, lake trips will be in either a boat, a float tube, or from shore. Your guide will teach you about the feeding patterns for the fish you are pursuing, will take care of fly selection, and will show you various retrieval techniques to get those fish biting. Lake Trips are a great way to take the family out to introduce them to fly fishing, or to just spend a day or a weekend with some friends. Let us take care of the details for you so you can concentrate on the fishing and time spent with family and friends.

Full Day Trips are $600 for 1 or 2 anglers, (not each). Additional anglers are $150.

Half Day Trips are $450 for 1 or 2 anglers, (not each). Additional anglers are $150.

Fly Fishing Lessons

Fly fishing lessons are available for groups of 4-6 people and are at a cost of $100 per person. Come as a group, or we can pair you up with other fishermen.

We'll teach you everything you need to know during a 2 hour hands-on lesson. We'll discuss all the gear that you need to start fly fishing, including gear that we have found along the way make things easier. We'll go over rod and reel selection, how to set up your rod, fly selection, how to attach the backing, fly line, leader, tippet, and flies, including all the knots you'll need along the way. We'll go over how to read water, how to fish a river and a lake, and how to fish for different species. We'll also cover basic casting techniques, including dry fly fishing, nymphing, and streamer fishing. We show you how to set the hook, fight a fish, land a fish, and release a fish properly.

You do not need a license for the lesson as we'll be spending a lot of time working on casting.
